Welcome to the home page of Benedictine University's art programs!
With majors in Studio Art and Fine Arts, as well as our newest program, Graphic Art and Design, Benedictine's art programs offer students the opportunity to become engaged in an intellectual and spiritual discourse through their chosen artistic medium.
Our approach to teaching encourages students to refine their work as artists by studying the philosophical and stylistic moves of a variety of artistic traditions, including the representational traditions of Western art. We encourage our students to develop their artistic talent by taking an array of courses from the disciplines of drawing, design, oil painting, printmaking, photography, computer art, and graphic design. Our program is also distinguished by its writing-intensive courses, including courses in Art History and Art Criticism, which develop knowledge and respect for the history of art and artistic production.
Our programs are young, but they offer a well-rounded education in the visual arts that will prepare students for any number of professions in the arts. Our graduates have attended Masters programs at schools such as the Art Institute of Chicago and The Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, as well as found success in a variety of other career paths. We invite you to explore our website to learn more about what a degree in art at Benedictine can offer you!
