Background:
Larklyn Brown (Lark) is a native Philadelphian. She attended Temple University
and studied the "Visual Arts" and dance. While attending Temple she
worked as a curator for several art museums in Pennsylvania. When she moved to
Aurora, IL in 1991 she continued her education at College of DuPage in Glen
Ellyn, IL.
Here she
opened College of DuPage first "Student Run Art Gallery" with six
others students in 1992 called "Wings" which is currently organized
and exhibit by C.O.D. students today.
During this time Lark attended DePaul University in Chicago part-time and
graduated with a Bachelor of Art degree in Humanities with honors. She is a
member "Alpha Sigma Lambda" the oldest chapter-based honor society
for full and part time students.
Today she
is a high school teacher in District 204 and author of a children's book named
"What Do You Dance?" This book links the arts with poetry with other
academic learning.
She is also a proprietor of "Creative World Dance" company, a
traveling workshop of visual arts and dance therapy, for adults and children in
Chicago and community schools and institutions. Lark is a poet, visual and
performing artist and a wife and mother of a teenager daughter Taylor.
