Degree Level/Concentration: Ph.D. Astronomy; BA Physics
Professional Background:
I received my Bachelor in Physics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
Greece and my Ph.D. in Astronomy from University of Illinois at
Urbana/Champaign. I have worked in the areas of computational astrophysics and
high performance computer applications at UC San Diego and the San Diego
Supercomputer center and I am currently working for Research Computing and
Academic Technologies at Northwestern University.My
area of specialty is large-scale computer applications that utilize local and
federated computational resources with an emphasis on the science of
Astrophysics and Cosmology. I am the 'champion' for Northwestern University's
XSEDE (Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment) access, a
federated resource that connects researchers on NSF-funded computational
platforms. I have taught courses in Physics, Mathematics and Computational
Science at Norte Dame, University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, University
of California at San Diego and Northwestern University.
