Background:
My name is Jen Propp and I live in the suburbs of Chicago with my husband, two
children, three dogs, two guinea pigs, and one fish. I received my BA in
English from Saint Xavier University in Chicago in 1998 and went on to earn my
MA (also from Saint Xavier) in English with an emphasis on teaching college
writing in 2000. Like you, I am also a student at Benedictine University as I
am currently working on my doctorate here in Higher Education and
Organizational Change.
I have
worked in higher education for almost 12 years, and the bulk of my experience
has been in teaching a variety of writing courses including research writing,
creative writing, composition, and business writing. I’ve also had the pleasure
of teaching humanities and literature courses.
In my
full-time capacity I currently work as a Faculty Developer in the Center for
Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Kaplan University. In this role I perform a
variety of duties including training incoming faculty candidates, managing the
live events offered by the CTL, developing workshops, and assisting faculty in
pursuing and achieving their faculty development aspirations.
I am very excited to begin this part of my professional journey, and I am equally excited to work with all of you as we work and learn together.
