Professional Background:
Dr. José Francisco Salgado is an astronomer and science visualizer at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. Formally trained in Physics and Astronomy, he uses his skills in astronomy education and graphic arts to create multimedia works that communicate science in engaging ways. In 2006 he produced Gustav Holst's The Planets, a critically acclaimed video suite set to the tempo and tone of the popular orchestral suite. The video suite has accompanied live performances by the Chicago Sinfonietta and the California Symphony. Dr. Salgado is also the Emmy-nominated presenter of Nuestra Galaxia (WGBO, Univision Chicago), a weekly astronomy news segment whose 100th segment aired in early 2008.
