Degree Level/Concentration: M.A. English Rhetoric, Northern Illinois
University; B.A. English - Writing & Language, Aurora University; 2 years
in M.S. Clinical Psychology program, Benedictine University
Professional Background:
Jan taught part-time as an adjunct at both NIU and Aurora University. Her
"day job" for the last 10 years has been in the fitness industry in
management and consulting, while raising her five children. Prior to that, she
worked in promotions and development for non-profit organizations and as a
free-lance writer, editor, and proofreader. Accused of being a dilettante by
her children, Jan prefers to think of herself as an enthusiastic,
"lifelong learner" and has pursued an array of interests over the
years, including alternative/natural healing modalities, gardening/landscaping,
cooking/nutrition, and real estate. Her most recent personal growth adventure
involved participating in a year's cycle of grain farming. Jan likes reading
19th century literature, pop psychology, and natural healing publications, as
well as experimenting with food and wine, and delving into local history.
