1. How does a student apply for an Endowed Scholarship?

They are notified of the scholarship by searching Benedictine University's Web site. They need to submit an application and all other required materials for each Endowed Scholarship they are applying for by March 1 of each year. After the selection committee meets, the recipient will be notified by the Enrollment Office and must submit a thank you letter to the appropriate donor before the funds are released.
Some scholarships need additional approval, for example:
    a. Department approval if declared major a requirement
    b. Financial Aid approval for all need based awards

2. Are Endowment Scholarships renewable?

Please check with your University Representative to determine if the Endowed Scholarship you are applying for is renewable upon re-application and maintenance of renewal requirements.
3. How much money will I receive from an Endowment Scholarship?
The award amount varies depending on how many students are currently receiving the award and how the donor wants the awards divided.
There needs to be at least $500 available to be awarded and the stated amount is a maximum award amount. Scholarship awards may actually be less than stated.
4. What is the difference between an Endowment Scholarship and a Scholarship Award?
The money for an endowment scholarship is supposed to last a life time by investing the money.
The money for a scholarship award is to be used immediately in the full amount.

Endowment Scholarships may be available. for more information on eligibility requirements, please call the Enrollment Center at (630) 829-6300.

All scholarships are awarded based on the availability of funds.
