Policies and Requirements

Admission to a graduate program is offered to applicants who have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and show high probability of success in the program and the profession. The University admits students year-round, allowing them to begin in any term, including summer. If the student has taken coursework as a graduate student at large at Benedictine University, the grade point average earned will be considered in the decision to admit the student.

An application will be considered ready for review when the following items have been received:

  • All college transcripts (official and sealed). Transcripts from universities or colleges outside of the United States will require a foreign credit evaluation from Educational Credential Evaluators.
  • Letters of reference (quantity depending upon program)
  • Goal statement
  • Autobiographical statement – Master of Science in Clinical Psychology (M.S.C.P.) program only
  • Departmental interview may be required at the discretion of department director
  • Test scores (GMAT, MAT, GRE, depending on desired degree. Test waiver option may be available.)
  • Resume – Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), Master of Science in Management Information Systems (M.S.M.I.S.), Master of Science in Accountancy (M.S.A.) and Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior (M.S.M.O.B.) programs only

Students-at-large

  • A student may choose to enroll in courses as a graduate student-at-large to complete a certificate program or before applying to a degree program
  • A maximum of 16 quarter-hours or nine semester-hours of credit may be applied to a degree program, if a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better is achieved
  • Department advising is required
  • Financial aid is not available for students-at-large

Certificates

Students seeking a certificate are required to submit a Certificate Program application. Students taking courses in certificate programs are not
considered degree seeking and therefore are not eligible for financial aid. Hours earned in a certificate program may be applied toward a degree
program at the time of acceptance.
