Kari A. Gibbons
Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management

Kari earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Business from Arizona State University in 1997. While there, she interned at Richman & Associates, Inc., a public relations firm, and at St. Luke's Hospital doing special events. After graduation Kari worked as Non-Traditional Programs Coordinator at Grand Canyon University. In this position she advised and counseled students. She coordinated the orientations and registrations for College of Continuing Studies and participated in many speaking events. Kari joined Benedictine University in 1999 as a Transfer Admissions Counselor. In 2001 Kari was promoted to Director of Admissions and was responsible for the enrollment of all incoming undergraduate students. She earned a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Management of Innovation and Technology from Benedictine University in 2003. Kari now serves as the Dean of Enrollment for the University and is responsible for the enrollment of all incoming degree seeking students, including undergraduate freshmen, transfer students, adult students, graduate students and international students. Kari is a member of the Illinois Association for College Admissions Counseling and the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals.

     
     
     
  Dayna Crabb

Dayna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communication with a concentration in Public Relations from Columbia College in Chicago in December 2005. During her time at Columbia College Chicago, Dayna participated in the "Semester in L.A." program where she learned about entertainment marketing from Hollywood professionals at their classroom located at CBS Studios. While in school, Dayna interned at the Chicago Bandits women's professional softball team as the Media Relations / Webmaster and also as the Special Events Intern at Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. At the completion of her internship, she was hired full-time as the Special Events Associate to work on fundraising events that raised over $500,000 to support Starlight Starbright's programs that enriched the quality of life for seriously ill children and their families. Dayna joined Benedictine University in 2007 as a Transfer Admissions Counselor and has been recently promoted to Acting Director of Enrollment. She serves as a Regional Representative for the Private Illinois College and Universities organization and is a member of Illinois Association for College Admissions Counseling and the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals.

     
     
     
Alexander Batten

Alex Batten earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts from Benedictine University in 2008.  During his time at Benedictine University, Alex wrote for the student newspaper The Candor, he served as a staff writer and webmaster for the online edition of the newspaper.  Alex was also a founding member of Benedictine University’s Society of Communication Arts Professionals, where he served as the Director of Public Relations.  Alex has worked with children for many years, as a tutor, mentor and camp counselor.  He received the honor of Golden Apple Scholar in 2004. His previous employment was with Barnes and Noble where he rose to the rank of assistant manager.  Alex was a student worker for the Enrollment Center his senior year and was thrilled to accept the position of Regional Admissions Counselor.  He is very excited to work with students whom have an interest in attending Benedictine University. Alex is currently responsible for working with incoming freshman from Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin.

     
     
     
 

Jennifer Blair

Jennifer has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/College of Speech with a minor in Psychology, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Jennifer was employed as a Graphic Artist for a Fortune 500 computer corporation before coming to the Benedictine University Admissions staff in January 2006. Jennifer began her work as an Office Assistant in the Enrollment Canter and has recently taken on the new role of University Representative. In her spare time, she is an avid oil painter. As an artist, Jennifer has donated her time and talents working with music theater and festival shows. Jennifer is currently working with individuals who are pursuing graduate level degrees. The programs she represents include the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.), Master of Science Information Systems (M.I.S.), Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior (M.S.M.O.B.) and Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology (M.C.E.P.). Amy Boruta

Amy Boruta earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Benedictine University in May 2007 where she majored in Molecular Biology. Amy was president of the Student Government Association for two years, which allowed her to be an active member of the Benedictine campus community. During Amy's sophomore year she also traveled to Sucre, Bolivia on a mission trip through the Benedictine University Ministry where she volunteered in a pediatric hospital. The following summer Amy completed a student research internship through Benedictine University. She worked with scientists on various projects at Argonne National Laboratory in Lemont, IL. Amy also participated in the Model United Nations class which traveled to New York for the National Model UN conference in the Spring 2007. The Benedictine delegation won the two top awards for Outstanding Delegation and Outstanding Position Paper. Amy is interested in the health care system and is currently pursuing a Master's of Public Health degree with a concentration in Medical Administration from Benedictine University. She recently began her position as University Representative for undergraduate recruitment in July 2007 and is looking forward to helping prospective high school students that are interested in attending Benedictine University. Amy works with the following local high schools (and many more): Downers Grove North and South, Lemont Township High School, Argo Community High School, Benet Academy, Islamic Foundation School, Brother Rice, St. Laurence.

Jim graduated from Aurora University with a degree in business administration. He is currently working on a master's degree in management and organizational behavior. Jim has been at Benedictine University since August 1989. He enjoys the challenges of recruiting students from various socio-economic backgrounds. He is a member of the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling. Jim is responsible for the regional territory of Michigan. He works with the following Illinois high schools (and many more): Aurora Central, Bogan, Bolingbrook, Carl Sandburg, Fenwick, Hubbard, Lockport, Marmion Military Academy, Proviso West, Romeoville, Saint Patrick, Saint Scholastica and Waubonsie Valley.
     
     
     
Lisa Darnell

Lisa graduated from Benedictine University in 2007, where she earned a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science along with two minors in Psychology and Communication Arts. Lisa participated in the Model United Nations class which traveled to New York for the National Model UN conference in the Spring of 2004, 2005 and 2007. The Benedictine delegation won the top awards for Outstanding Delegation and Outstanding Position paper in 2007 when the school represented France. During her undergraduate career Lisa was a student worker in the Admissions Office. Upon graduation Lisa joined Benedictine University’s fulltime staff in the spring of 2008 as a Financial Aid Assistant. Lisa is also the Education Director at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church, a position she has held since February of 2006. Through this role at Good Samaritan Lisa teaches Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Lisa is currently working on a Masters in Public Health, with a focus on Disaster Management at Benedictine University. Lisa is a transfer Admissions Counselor and primarily works with students from College of DuPage, Triton College, Prairie State College and Elgin Community College.  

     
     
     
 

Kathryn Deluhery

Kathryn graduated from St. Norbert College, where she earned her Bachelors degree in Communications with a concentration in media. While in college she spent a semester studying and interning in London England. This experience offered her a unique perspective for living, working and traveling in a foreign country. Her experience was so positive, that upon her return she became an ambassador for the program she attended to help students at her school who were contemplating studying abroad. Additionally she worked in the admissions office where she contacted students thinking about attending her college. After graduating it was an easy transition into full time employment with American Intercontinental University London where she assisted and prepared students for studying arts and business internationally. Kathryn recently joined Benedictine University in May 2008 as a Freshman Admissions Counselor and she looks forward to assisting high school students and their families. Kathryn works with the following local schools and many more; including Oswego High Schools, Elk Grove High School, Palatine High School. Kathryn is a part of the Illinois Association of College Admissions Counseling.

     
   

 

     
 

Jennifer Erickson

Jenny Erickson graduated from Benedictine University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and English Language and Literature in May of 2009. Jenny was President of the Political Science Student’s Association her senior year, and she is also the founder of the Benedictine chapter of STAND (A Student Anti-Genocide Coalition). Jenny was active in Benedictine’s Model United Nations program since her sophomore year, and participated in two conferences as a student delegate and two conferences as a head delegate. In addition, Jenny had the amazing opportunity to travel to China for the 2008 Model United Nations conference held in Xi’an. Jenny had a wonderful experience on this trip, and is grateful for having the opportunity to participate in such a unique experience. Jenny was honored to receive the Thomas J. Dyba Leadership Award which is presented each year to a graduating Benedictine University senior who has demonstrated outstanding leadership. Jenny was a student worker in the Enrollment Center and was excited to accept the position of International Admission Counselor. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with international students from around the globe, and is looking forward to assisting both undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in Benedictine University.

     
     
     
 

Katie Gregory

Katie completed her Communications degree at Elmhurst College, with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertisement and a minor in Speech Pathology. While attending Elmhurst College, Katie enjoyed taking part in various organizations on campus. As Vice President of Panhellenic Council, she served as Director of Recruitment and coordinated fall enrollment for all sororities on Elmhurst's Campus. Katie is currently enrolled in Benedictine's Master's program and aims to complete the Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior degree in about two years. While Katie takes pleasure in working with others, she now benefits from the opportunity Benedictine University has given her, by appointing her Orientation and Event Coordinator for the Admission’s Department. She has been given the job of organizing freshmen orientation as well as many other events Admission’s host throughout the year. Katie is extremely gratified and appreciative of this important role and responsibility. She views this opportunity as a step in the right direction towards greatly furthering her career, knowledge, as well as opportunities for future endeavors. She looks forward to working at Benedictine University and hopes to contribute to the already prominent name the school has made for itself.

     
     
     
 

Elve Mitchell

Elve Mitchell earned his Bachelors of Arts in Business Management from Concordia University Chicago in 2004. He  was able to thrive as a student, while enjoying the competition of college sports through the small, private environment the institution provided him. After college, he entered the hospitality industry, working in management for the Hyatt Corporation for two years. It was after leaving this job that he stumbled upon his true passion, higher education. Elve joined the Enrollment Center in May 2008 after working as an Admissions Counselor with American Intercontinental University for two years. Elve's career thus far has allowed him& to work with people of different backgrounds, personalities, and ethnicities. He truly enjoys helping people accomplish their goals and dreams of attaining a college education. Elve works with the following local high schools (and many more): Glenbard West, North and East, Joliet Catholic, Nazareth Academy, Wheaton North and Yorkville, HS. Heidi Robbe

Heidi earned of Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Benedictine University in 2004. During her time at Benedictine University, Heidi participated in the National Model United Nations Conference, the Pi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, and the Political Science Student Association (PSSA), serving as president of Pi Sigma Alpha and PSSA during her senior year. After graduation, Heidi accepted a position as a Report Coordinator with MPI Research, Inc. near Kalamazoo, Michigan, where she compiled research reports for cardiovascular and pulmonary non-clinical studies. She also contributed research leading to co-authorship of an article published in The International Journal of Toxicology. In August 2007, Heidi returned to Benedictine University, where she is currently responsible for working with graduate students pursuing the Master of Arts in Education (MAEd), Master of Education (MEd), Master of Science in Clinical Psychology (MCP), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Nutrition and Wellness (MSNW), and Master of Science in Science Content and Process (MSSCP) degrees. She is very excited to represent Benedictine, and enjoys increasing regional awareness of the University. Heidi is a member of the Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling and the National Association of Graduate Admissions Professionals.

     
     
     
 

Anthony Scola

Anthony earned a Bachelor of Arts in Corporate Communications from Dominican University in 2006. During his time at Dominican University, Anthony was a member of the baseball team and was the recipient of the Coaches Award for Leadership and Work Ethic. Anthony joined Benedictine University in the spring of 2007 as a Financial Aid Assistant. In 2008 he was promoted to the Office Manager of Benedictine Central and was responsible for the registration of all adult learning team and online programs. Anthony recently joined the Enrollment Center as a Transfer Admission Counselor. He is currently working on a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior.
