Carol (Antonini) Arthurs

The Benedictine Spirit Award is given to an alumnus who has exemplified the
Benedictine values of services, hospitalities and dedication to their personal
and/or professional life. The 2008 award is given to Carol Arthurs.
Carol (Antonini) Arthurs has given of her time both as a high school biology
and chemistry teacher at Benet Academy, but also to her community. At Benet
she assists the music department with ticket sales, ushers and parent volunteers
for marching band performances, concerts and musicals. She coordinates the Musical
Parents organization and assists the director of music when needed. Carol is
House Manager for the spring musical in which she oversees the volunteer parents
and student ushers at each performance. She also volunteers with the Benet Environmental
Club by helping sort paper, cans, bottles and glass and then hauls it all to
the recycling dumpster. As moderator of the Benet Environmental Club, she appoints
club officers and supervises students in sorting recyclables and promoting conservation
of the environment.
In her community, she is a religion teacher at both St. Michael's Parish and
St. Scholastica Parish and volunteers her time for many church activities to
numerous to mention. She and 6 of her family members are all alumni of Benedictine
University.
Carol completed her Masters in Education with an emphasis in Science from NIU
and resides in Woodridge with her husband Robert. They have three children,
Karen, Kathleen and Kristen.
