Frank Janczak began heading up the Benedictine men's golf program in 2006
and has been a staff member since 2002. He also serves as the head coach of
the newly formed women's golf team and as an assistant coach with Benedictine's
highly-successful men's basketball team.
During his first season at the Eagles' golf helm in 2006-07, Janczak led a young
Benedictine squad to a fifth place finish in the tough Northern Athletics Conference
race. His inaugural season with the golf team also had then freshman player
R.J. Schwalbach finish as an all-conference player and earn the NAC's "Rookie
of the Year" award for the top freshman player.
In basketball, Janczak has more than 15 years of experience on the bench as
either a head coach or assistant coach at the college level, and has already
helped the Eagles to three winning seasons and an NCAA Division III Tournament
appearance in basketball. He serves as one of the teams two junior varsity
basketball coaches in addition to other duties.
Janczak began his coaching career at North Central College. During his 12-year
tenure at his alma mater, Janczak helped the Cardinals to four College Conference
of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) basketball titles. A coach under Bob Bray (a
1979 graduate of then-Illinois Benedictine College), Janczak was responsible
for a variety of duties during his tenure at North Central, including scouting,
film breakdown and recruiting.
A 1984 graduate of North Central, Janczak also served as the head mens
basketball coach at fellow Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC) school Dominican
University for two years (2000-02). He is a financial analyst and resides in
Naperville, Ill., with wife Kerry and their children Tyler, Kyle and Jamie.
