Benedictine University named Rob Kettle as its head coach for men's soccer
in 2007.
Kettle brings a long - and diverse - background with soccer to Benedictine's
program. For 16 years prior to joining the Eagles' staff, Kettle has operated
his own highly-successful soccer school in Sugar Land, Texas. In addition to
the day-to-day operations of his soccer school (including promotions, camp organization
and corporate sponsorships), Kettle also developed the Eclipse Soccer Club into
one of the top programs in its region.
On the collegiate level, Kettle's experience reaches across the various levels
of competition. He served as the head coach at NCAA Division II California (Penn.)
University from 1990-91, as the men's head coach at NCAA Division III Curry
(Mass.) College from 1988-89, as well as the head women's coach and assistant
men's coach at NCAA Division I Miami University of Ohio from 1986-88.
Kettle holds a National "A" Coaching License from the United States
Soccer Federation (USSF) and an Advanced Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches
of America. He also earned an Intermediate Coaching Badge from the English Football
Association, as well as a National Youth License from the USSF.
Kettle played professional soccer for the Wimbledon Football Club of the English
Football League from 1983-86. He was a member of the British Universities Team
at the 1985 World Student Games, as well.
Kettle earned his Bachelors of Science degree in computer science in 1983 from
Warwick University in Coventry, England (graduating with honors). Additionally,
he earned a master's degree in physical education at Miami University of Ohio
in 1988.
Art
Garza
Assistant Coach
Art Garza joined the Benedictine staff in 2005 and brought with him a wealth
of experience in the sport of soccer. Prior to coming to the Eagles program,
Garza had put in 13 years of coaching on the collegiate level.
Garza has been the Associate Head Coach at both the Illinois Institute of Technology
and at National Louis University for one season each. He was also the head coach
at the University of St. Francis for nine seasons and headed up the Dominican
University program for two years.
Garza graduated from Lewis University in 1977 with a bachelors degree
in liberal arts. He also earned a bachelor of science degree in nursing from
National Louis University in 1995. He is currently pursuing his masters
degree in human resource development from National Louis.
A resident of Naperville, Ill., Garza and his wife Gloria have five children.
His oldest son (George) is a Chicago police officer and his oldest daughter
(Gabrielle) performs on Broadway. His youngest son (Arturo) is a member of the
Naperville Central High School team.
