This class examines the social, psychological, physiological and cultural factors in the etiology of alcoholism and other substances of abuse. Substances of abuse include alcohol, selected drugs and other agents that may have legal medical uses. Theoretical and practical approaches to treatment are outlined. Topics include incidence and prevalence of abuse, identification of problems, control of abuse patterns and prevention techniques.
