within the last several years, to teach courses at Benedictine University. Instructors listed may not
currently be employed by Benedictine University. The University is fortunate to be able to provide our
students with part-time faculty whose experience, credentials and commitment to education add to the high quality of our resident faculty.
Objectives:
The Arts administration major will provide an interdisciplinary, professional education that will prepare graduates to serve the national arts world. The program for majors in arts administration is designed to:
1. Acquire training in either music or fine arts;
2. Develop individual talents and interests in artistic and professional areas;
3. Incorporate study in business administration;
4. Demonstrate strong communications skills; and
5. Combine academics with a significant internship and practicum experience.
Requirements - Major:
Arts administration majors are required to demonstrate competency in a secondary language by completion of at least one secondary language course at or above the 202-level. Students majoring in arts administration must fulfill the following requirements with a grade of "C" or better: Business administration and related courses: ARAD-326(2), 327(2), 360(3); CMSC-C120(3); MATH-S105(3)or S110(3); ECON-C101(3) or C102(3); ACCT-111(3), 112(3); MGT-C300(3); 301(3); 330(3) or 380(3); MKTG-300(3) or 380(3). Communication: 9 hours - COMM-207(3) or 208(3), 209(3), 252(3) or 254(3), and 253(3) or 262(3).
MUSIC CONCENTRATION: Music: 27 hours - MUSI-101(3), 102(3), Applied music(6), Ensembles(3), Internships(6), plus two of the following: MUSI-C204(3), 205(3), 206(3), C207(3), or C208(3).
FINE ARTS CONCENTRATION: Fine Arts: 27 hours - FNAR-C100(3), C101(3), C111(3), C203(3), C204(3), and C250(3), plus one of FNAR-240(3), 241(3) or 242(3), and Internships(6).
