In addition to its program in English for Academic Purposes, the Department of Languages and Literature offers undergraduate programs of study in the following areas:
Designed to allow students to attain proficiency in Mandarin Chinese at the intermediate level, the minor in Chinese also offers an interdisciplinary introduction to the history and culture of China.
The major and minor in English Language & Literature provides exposure to significant writers, periods, genres and literary traditions, while also introducing students to key methods in critical reading and analysis.
The Department's programs in Spanish combine rigorous language instruction with sustained attention to the literature, culture, and political history of Spain and Latin America.
newest program in the Department, the Spanish major with a concentration in Medical Spanish provides students pursuing careers as health care professionals and emergency responders with the language and cultural proficiency that will allow them to work with Spanish-speaking populations.
Students also have the option of pursuing Secondary Education certification in conjunction with a major in either English Language & Literature or Spanish.
