Early Admission for high school students, and Benedictine undergraduate students in their first or second year of study

Qualified high school seniors can apply for acceptance into medical, dental, or pharmacy school at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) at the same time they are applying for admission to Benedicitne University! Benedicitne students in their first two years are also eligble to apply. Students accepted into this program are guaranteed a seat at LECOM if they maintain specific academic standards and vocational interests. Read more here.

Medical

Qualifications:

  • High School unweighted GPA > 3.5
  • SAT > 1240 or ACT > 26
  • Interview with LECOM representative before receiving provisional acceptance.
  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Current BenU students must apply to the Early Admission program no later than the spring of sophomore year.

MCAT exempt if coursework of Biochemistry and Genetics are taken and a grade of "C" or higher.

Shadowing an osteopathic physician is highly recommended.

Dental

Qualifications:

  • High School unweighted GPA > 3.5
  • SAT > 1240 or ACT > 26
  • Interview with LECOM representative before receiving provisional acceptance.
  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Current BenU students must apply to the Early Admission program no later than the spring of sophomore year.

DAT scores: Academic Average > 19; Reading Comprehension > 19; Perceptual Ability > 19.

A minimum of 100 hours of shadowing in a clinical dental setting is strongly recommended.

Pharmacy

Qualifications:

  • High School unweighted GPA > 3.5
  • SAT > 1240 or ACT > 26
  • Interview with LECOM representative before receiving provisional acceptance.
  • US citizen, permanent resident, or F1 visa holder
  • Current BenU students must apply to the Early Admission program no later than the spring of sophomore year.

PCAT is not required.

All programs require that while at Benedictine, students:

  • Maintain cumulative science GPA > 3.2 and overall GPA > 3.4.
  • Complete a Bachelor's degree (any major), along with specific coursework in English, Social Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Complete the LECOM application
  • Provide to LECOM transcripts from Benedictine University and from any other post-secondary institution
  • Regularly report updates to LECOM.
  • Attend every semester in-person advising with the Director of Pre-Professional Programs (Ms. Alice Sima).
  • Completed LECOM supplemented application
  • Pass background checks performed through LECOM's service, including a drug and alcohol screen
  • Obtain and transmit letter(s) of recommendation (varies by program).

IMPORTANT!    All students interested in one of the LECOM-Benedictine Early acceptance Programs must apply to Benedicitne University and complete the admission process at LECOM.
