Birck Hall of Science is a state-of-the art 70,000-square foot facility dedicated to the natural sciences. The lower level of Birck Hall features high tech classrooms, labs, a large lecture hall, seminar room and student break-out study areas. Equipment such as the NMR spectrometer is housed in its own specifically designed lab space. Chemistry laboratories are designed with state-of-the art equipment while our graduate programs are able to use campus and off-site locations to enhance their learning experiences.

Maximal exercise testing is conducted by the use of a ParvoMedics TrueMax 2400™ Metabolic Measurement System. This system is also used to conduct resting metabolic rate testing. ECG monitoring during exercise testing is conducted with a Motara X-Scribe system that allows tests to be reviewed and sent to physicians for further follow-up.

Visit the Master of Science in Clinical Exercise Physiology website for a list of equipment in our laboratory and the facilities that our students work with while in the program.

General Chemistry Class

Located within Birck Hall are several well-equipped teaching laboratories for our general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry and inorganic chemistry lab courses. Additionally, each faculty member has his or her own dedicated research lab space in which faculty and students collaborate together on their research projects. There are two instrument labs in the building that house the majority of the instrumentation owned by the department.

Visit the Chemistry Home Page for additional information on our program.
