  Displaced Earner Program

Below is appreciation shown by the students we've been able to help with this program:

"Thank you very much for your help."

"I sincerely thank the members of the community who have generously given their support to the Displaced Earner Program at Benedictine University and for relieving some of the financial burden that families such as mine are experiencing during these difficult economic times. My family appreciates your help. It is encouraging to know that people like you are willing to help others in the community. I appreciate your generosity and support!"

"I just wanted to let you know that my daughter has filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid for 2009-2010, and I will be meeting today with representatives from the Career Development Center. Thank you for meeting with us. We greatly appreciate your time and attention to this matter."

"Thank you for all the help you have given me in my undergraduate studies. Your assistance has been invaluable to me during this semester. It has given me an opportunity to complete my undergraduate studies and help lighten the load on my family with financial issues. Again, thank you so much. I greatly appreciate your generosity."

"Over the last few months and still for the duration of this semester it seems I have been faced with many challenges. Life has a way of always throwing us that curveball. Yet, Benedictine University has been my saving grace in so many ways. It is the one place where it seems that by immersing myself in academics, I can get away from the stresses of life. The admissions counselors, the professors and at this time the assistance of the financial aid office have left me in awe of this institution. A place I consider more befitting of a warmer title.

So, I thank you for all the time and effort in which you put into my financial aid situation. It is through your efforts that I can at least make progress with my education as planned. Something I value and cherish beyond all else. For that your efforts will not be forgotten. Thank you so much."

I would like to thank all of you for your generosity through the Displaced Earner Program. I appreciate Benedictine University's help throughout my undergraduate program. Thank you again.

Thank you so much for your generosity. I appreciate it so much. This money means a lot to me. Thank you for all your help!

I am writing to simply say thank you very much for the financial support! I truly appreciate it. These days things aren't the best financially for many of us, and it makes the world of difference to know that there are people out there who care. Again, thank you for your help. I will always remember it.

I want to take the time to thank you all for your generosity and kindness in funding the Displaced Earner Program award. Thank you again for making this possible for me and for all the other students. I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to genuinely thank you for helping me in a time of need. Personally, I have gone through quite a lot within the time span of my freshman year here at Benedictine. After my father passed away in November of 2008, I had a difficult time in finding a job, especially since it is only my first year in college and because America’s economic hardship has consumed everyone. The Displaced Earner Program has provided me with not only a job, but an environment from which to learn that will prepare me for the world outside of Benedictine University. So far, I have been blessed with this University and have been privileged to meet and interact with considerate and hard-working individuals whose main concern is to help the students in any way possible. This close-knit community is something that cannot be found in many places such as larger universities. I can only hope to serve the Benedictine community and give back in everything that I have been given. Looking around campus and witnessing the cooperation and support that individuals of the community share honestly makes it seem that there is still hope left in the world for peace and harmony. I personally would like to thank you once again for your generous hand of opportunity, and sincerely vow to keep an eye on the University after I graduate and become a beneficial contributor to the same program and community that took care of me. I appreciate all of your help and may every graduating student become enlightened to continue to 'Carry the Light' of humanity.

My family and I would like to thank everyone that is involved with the Displaced Earner Program.  This money helped provide me the needed books which are currently being used to help further my studies.  We are grateful that the University thought of us and fulfilled their goal of helping their students go on with their academic careers.  It feels great that Benedictine University was able to keep their students who are interested in making a difference in the world, and hopefully the school will be able to help more students in the future.

I would personally like to thank all who have contributed to the Displaced Earner Program and who gave the ability to continue my education here. I understand that everyone is facing hard times and I am extremely grateful for those who, despite our economic problems, could still donate to help me continue my education. Thank you for allowing me to receive an education that not many of my family members received, and for giving me an opportunity to make my mark on this world.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone involved in the Displaced Earner Program. Due to a series of detrimental financial and emotional issues over the past three years, my well thought-out and clear-cut plans quickly faltered. Instead of entering my senior year of college this fall semester, I will be a sophomore. Instead of letting life's “rifts in the road” deter me from continuing my education, I acknowledged these challenges, overcame them, and ultimately learned from them. My family has been poor, homeless, split-up, etc. Even in dealing with all of this, I have never lost sight of my future – attending medical school and becoming a surgeon. I know that I can help, motivate, inspire, mentor and touch the hearts and lives of so many people. I have faith that I can make a difference in people's lives not only by sharing my experiences and lessons learned, but in my future career altogether. The Displaced Earner Funding will enable me to help others. In sharing this burden of financing my education with me, all of you are touching many lives, not just mine.

I wanted to write a sincere letter about the appreciation I have for the program taking time to help me with my current financial state.  My dad was laid off from his job as a plumber in October 2008. Meanwhile, I have been balancing four jobs, academics and stress due to the situation.  I applied to the program with the hope of being able to continue my education at Benedictine University for the years to follow.  Graciously, the program was able to assist me so that I will be able to attend Benedictine University in the fall of 2009.

Thank you for the assistance I received. You have no idea how much this means to me. My education is very important. Therefore, I would like to say “thank you” to the Benedictine community, alumni and all who contributed to the program for enabling me to continue my educational endeavor without interruption. I have had great experiences at Benedictine and your help will add to the wonderful memories I have of the University, staff, students and the entire Benedictine family.

Again, thank you for your help. This is a wonderful program and I am sure it has helped many students and families during these hard economic times. I look forward to carrying the light and helping others just as you have helped me.
