Adult Accelerated Programs Overview:
The Adult Accelerated Programs at Benedictine University are suited to fit your life. We offer multiple programs, formats and locations. Our evening or weekend blended classes are taught by professionals in their fields who will help you reach your goals. In most cases, you can earn a degree in about two years. Take your career to the next level, or even in a whole new direction, while enjoying the benefits of a strong, values-based education and the convenience of an adult learner setting.
Adult Accelerated undergraduate programs are offered in Evening and Weekend College learning team formats. Students start at the same time, progress together as a group and take one course at a time with a set schedule for the duration of the program. The programs are based on a traditional curriculum that has been redesigned to fit the needs and schedules of today's working adults. All courses are based on adult learning principles and are delivered in a blended format that combines the most effective aspects of live instruction with self-directed, Internet-based learning.Evening classes meet from 6:00-10:00 p.m. one night per week. Weekend College undergraduate classes meet from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday every other weekend (quantitative classes meet from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.). Weekend College graduate classes meet from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. approximately every third weekend. In addition to the weekly classroom session, students complete an asynchronous four-hour session online through D2L (Desire2Learn).
Associate of Arts (A.A.) in Business Administration
The A.A. in Business Administration degree program is designed for adult students with little or no college credit. The program focuses on skill development in the areas of business math and writing skills, social psychology and entrepreneurship as well as introductory economics and accounting. The A.A. in Business Administration program challenges students to develop knowledge, skills and personal values through a well-planned, sequenced curriculum. Students can earn the degree in about two years, enabling graduates to successfully transfer into our bachelor's degree completion options.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Management
The B.A. in Management degree completion program is designed to enable graduates to effectively function in increasingly complex business environments. The program focuses on skill development in the areas of management and leadership, group behavior, accounting and economics, marketing and project management. By combining previous college credit (a minimum of 36 transferable credit hours) with our core curriculum, students can earn a bachelor's degree in about two years.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Organizational Leadership
The B.A. Organizational Leadership is a degree completion program designed for adults interested in the behavioral perspectives of organization and management. It provides an alternative to programs offered by most undergraduate business programs that focus heavily on more quantitative topics such as accounting and finance. By combining previous college credit (a minimum of 36 transferable hours) with our core curriculum, students can earn a bachelor's degree in about two years.
Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.)The adult accelerated M.B.A. degree program provides bachelor-degreed working adults with the opportunity to enhance their business, communication, decision-making and leadership skills. Graduate students pursuing this degree can increase their business acumen in courses such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing and International Business. With studies culminating in a final comprehensive capstone project, students complete the M.B.A. program in about two years.
Master of Science (M.S.) in Leadership
The M.S. in Leadership program is designed to provide the knowledge base and skills that will contribute to the professional and development needs of women in today's society. Women pursuing this degree are interested in gaining hands-on experience and the intellectual capacity to achieve leadership locally, regionally and globally. With students culminating in a final comprehensive capstone project, students complete the M.S. in Leadership program in about two years.
Master of Education (M.Ed.)
Education has and always will be the biggest influence on human development. The Moser College at Benedictine University recognizes the changing world we live in, and it is through this recognition and understanding that we are able to offer one of the most advanced programs that meets Illinois State Standards. Our knowledgeable instructors bring their real-world experiences to the classroom, making the lessons come alive. Most students complete the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program in about 15 instructional months. Certified teachers can pursue a graduate degree in Reading and Literacy (Type 10 – Reading Specialist)..
English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) Endorsement
Benedictine University's English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) Endorsement program was designed to meet the urgent need within Illinois school districts to provide teachers who can address the cultural, linguistic and developmental needs of a diverse group of students. Completion of this program and practicum hours as prescribed by the University may enable certified teachers to obtain the additional State of Illinois approval needed to receive an E.S.L. Endorsement. Most students complete the E.S.L. Endorsement program in about nine instructional months.
Human Resources Management
The Human Resources Management Certificate program is designed to meet the needs of those students interested in entering the field of Human Resources as well as experienced human resources professionals interested in expanding their knowledge and career potential. This series focuses on the fundamental issues related to employee recruitment, training and retention strategies, employee relations, performance appraisal, compensation and benefits, and employment law. Courses are five weeks in length, and there are six courses (18 credit hours) per undergraduate academic certificate. Courses are completed fully online and the certificate is completed within about seven months.
The Marketing Certificate program addresses a variety of fundamental marketing issues of the 21st century, including Internet marketing, international marketing, promotional strategies, and consumer behavior. The program offers a concentrated focus for professionals who are looking to expand their knowledge of marketing and consumer behavior with an emphasis on understanding market, product, price, promotion and place of distribution. Coursework will allow students to develop foundations of sound marketing strategies,including effective application of research methodologies. Courses are five weeks in length, and there are six courses (18 credit hours) per undergraduate academic certificate. Courses are completed fully online and the certificate is completed within about seven months.
