History of the President's Invitational Golf Outing
The President's Invitational Golf Outing
started in 1995 as an athletic event. The outing was held at the Naperville
Country Club. In 2002 the focus was changed and it became a fundraiser for
student scholarships and moved to Cress Creek Country Club.
Beginning in 2008 our vision was to make the
President's Invitational Golf Outing one of the premiere outings in the area.
To do so would not only put Benedictine
University in the forefront of the
major golf outings in Northern Illinois but it
would also serve as the largest fundraiser for the University. This is when we
decided to start bringing in golf celebrities. Our slate of celebrities has
included: Hank Haney, Natalie Gulbis, Lee Trevino, Tom Watson, David Feherty,
Lee Trevino and Gary McCord, David Feherty and Annika Sorenstam.
In 2010 we moved the outing to Cantigny Golf
in Wheaton where we enjoyed five successful outings. Now, in 2016, we are
moving to Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont. We will welcome Ben
Crenshaw as our celebrity guest.
The funds raised at this outing go to benefit
our students in the form of scholarship dollars. Through the participation of
our golfers and sponsors we are able to help students who would otherwise be
unable to complete their Benedictine education. We thank all of you.
"I know when I contribute to the President's Invitational Golf Outing I am contributing directly to a Benedictine Education"- Bruce Bronge, President, ICI Inc.
