Proposal Preparation


The mission of the Office of Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants is to promote and facilitate the growth and enrichment of grantsmanship at Benedictine University. The Office provides information, assistance and advocacy to Benedictine University faculty and departments in the submission of grants to external funding agencies, including federal, state and local governmental agencies and private and public foundations and corporations. All grants submitted should be consistent with the mission and priorities of Benedictine University.

The Office serves as Benedictine's central contact office for all grant submissions (including collaborative and subcontract grants) and maintains University records on all grant submissions, awards, renewals and reports.
Support Services

The Office of Corporate, Foundation and Government Grants offers the following services to faculty/staff/departments in the grant submission and award process:

1. Provides expertise in the identification of funding sources for individual research, program and project grants.

2. Provides BU Internal "Grant Approval" and "Grant Summary" forms for new grant programs/projects, plus instruction and/or assistance in completing them.

3. Provides writing, editorial and budgetary expertise to faculty/staff who may request or need such assistance to obtain or manage a grant award.

4. Provides institutional statistics, financial reports, etc. needed for grant submissions.

5. Reviews final grant submissions for adherence to donor/grant award guidelines and to Benedictine University policies and procedures.

6. Obtains the internal approvals of appropriate University officials on grant submissions for new programs/research/projects.


7. Assists in the mailing of grant proposals.

8. Assists in follow-up contacts and/or site visits of funding agencies.

9. Assists in setting up grant accounts when grant monies are awarded and/or received.

10. Reviews and processes any contracts and/or subcontracts involved in faculty/staff/department-generated grant awards.
