What is the Academic English Program?
- Support classes for students who are preparing or beginning
to enroll in university programs.
- Classes provide academic English skills necessary to be successful
in college.
- Academic credit courses are taught by BU full-time professors
.
- Delivery is designed for the needs of international or American
English Language Learners that require some extra preparation
before beginning full-time university studies.
- Some classes have the SLA (Structured Learning Assistance)
section.
What is the Intensive English Immersion
Program?
- An English Language Immersion Program (held at our Springfield
Campus)
- Courses are at 3 levels from beginning to advanced
- Regular intensive plan is 20 hours per week (including hours
spent in the multimedia language laboratory)
- Students are tested with Institutional TOEFL for placement
and upon completion of program
- 10 week semesters for undergraduates and graduates
- Students will transfer into the Academic English Program after
passing level 3
What is the Short-term Communication and
Culture Programs?
This is a short 4-week course offered to non-native speakers of
English who are here in US for a summer study tour. The purpose
is to get them immersed in the American culture and prepare them
for basic English communication. The course will weave all four
elements of listening, speaking, reading and writing, with the
emphasize more on listening and speaking.
