International Student Club at
Benedictine University
About the International
Club The I.C. is being established to showcase a sense of unity
among the various cultures in the Benedictine community. Students will get an
opportunity to interact with other students of similar or different backgrounds
and learn about foreign cultures, allowing them to broaden their outlook, promote
cultural empathy and above all, to make this a fun experience for all who wish
to participate. Mission
The mission of the I.C. is to look through trivial cross-cultural differences
and focus on our similarities and strengths. Throughout the school year, we will
organize various events, from ethnic dinners and movies to shopping and bowling.
Activities
I.C. will organize events based on the preference of our students, primarily on weekends as it gives us all the opportunity to get to know each other better. Some activities that we had in mind include a visit to the zoo, bowling, dinners organized both on and off campus, foreign as well as American movies, a hayride, shopping trips. In November we will celebrate "International Week," the coming together of different cultures, where there will be games and other fun activities. We will also try to organize for our students to volunteer - perhaps at a hospital or old-age home in order for them to contribute to the society.
