Academic Planning
One of the most important aspects of preparing to go abroad is planning for academic success.? The following is advice for Benedictine Students in order to complete the study abroad process without headache.
Partnership Schools:
As a Benedictine University student you can take Major and Minor courses at the partner universities abroad.? If you follow these few simple steps you can assure proper credit transfer.
- Meet with your academic advisor to discuss BU course options
- Pick 7-8 Benedictine Courses that you might want to take while abroad
- Meet with the Education Abroad Coordinator to discuss matching BU courses to courses abroad
- Fill out the ¡°Education Abroad Course Registration Form¡±
- Receive necessary approval signatures
- Fill out abroad university¡¯s learning agreement (aka: foreign course approval form)
Standard Study Abroad Programs:
For certain study abroad programs credits can be transferred.? If you decide to use a study abroad provider you can still follow the above steps simply meet with the Education Abroad Coordinator to confirm that the provider you have chosen is an approved provider by Benedictine University.? After that the academic steps can be followed.
Faculty Led Short Term Programs:
Academic planning for short term programs is much simpler than for longer term programs.? Faculty members will provide a study abroad trip embedded with a course offered at Benedictine.? The course will either fit the requirements for either your Major or Minor course list.
