Programs Office: Education Abroad
Welcome to Education Abroad!
Thank you for your interest in Education Abroad. The Education Abroad Office is excited that you decided to visit our website. Education Abroad is a unique opportunity for Benedictine University students, Not only will you gain greater insight into global, political, economic, and social systems, but you will also attract the attention of employers interested in graduates with international experience.
Below are some examples of programs that you can partake in. You can choose between four main types of programs: Partnership Exchange Programs (PEP's), Standard Education Abroad Programs, Faculty Led Programs and Service Learning Programs.

Getting Started!
After taking a look at the different programs that Benedictine University has to offer, make a trip to the International Programs Office in Krasa Center Lower Level 020. The Education Abroad Coordinator will meet with you and help you with the application process. A checklist of the Education Abroad process will be provided to you in your first meeting. The Education Abroad Coordinator and the Faculty Advisor to Education Abroad will guide you through the entire process. You will also be provided with information on many different types of programs and scholarships.
Partnership Exchange Programs (PEP's)
Benedictine University is proud to offer our students this very unique opportunity. Student's can choose from ten different programs in 7 countries. This is the most practical and cost effective option to have an Education Abroad experience. Students pay Benedictine University tuition to BU, including all financial aid (institutional, state and federal). Room and Board are paid to the visiting institution, as well as personal purchases funds. Below is a list of the schools that BU has partnerships with along with their website links. Faculty-led
Programs
Benedictine University offers many different in-house trips for students to participate in. Each year faculty members propose and design short term trips in conjunction with courses offered in Fall or Spring semesters. Students take the semester long course for 3 credit hours and to enhance what has been learned they travel to a specific country and learn more about the material they had been previously taught. Trips take place over Spring Break and Summer Vacation. Soon trips will be taking place over Winter Break as well.
Faculty led programs are an excellent way for students to have an international experience.

Canada Spring Break Study
Tour
Spend a week in Quebec and Montreal. "Doing Business in Canada" is a course taught
by Dr. Jane Crabtree in the Business Department. Students will be able to learn about different
businesses located in Canada. Sign up for INTB 320 or MGT 391.
Israel Study
Tour
Dr. Christine Fletcher is leading Benedictine's first ever trip to Isreal. This trip
is included with the course "Theology of Justice" (THEO 102). Students will experience Bethlehem and Jerusalem.
They will speak with young people; Catholics, Jews and Muslims alike, regarding the current situation in Israel.
Global Interdependence Tour to China
Experience China like never before. Dr. Tim Goines is leading a trip to Beijing, Shenyang,
Shanghai and Shangri-La. Learn about the Global Economy in the classroom and see how China has been
affecting the current economic status in the world. Sign up for "The Global Economy" (INTB 101) and have this
once in a lifetime experience.
Treasures
of Greece
Experience the trail of Alexander the Great, visit the homes of the Ancient Greeks!
Visit Athens, Delphi, Petras, Olympia, Argolida, Mycenae and many more famous places. Students
should sign up for HUMN 220-Mediterranean World or HIST 291/391-Topics in History: Alexander the Great, both with
Dr. Montero.
