Citing Archives Materials

The unpublished nature of archival materials as well as their variety in type can pose challenges in source documentation. Typically, the following information is expected for archival materials: title and date of the item, file name, identification of location (which includes the name and numbers of record groups, series, and subseries in which the information is located), and repository name.

The following example is a citation for Benedictine University Faculty Assembly minutes:

Benedictine University Faculty Assembly minutes, 16 September 2012. Faculty Assembly minutes, 2012-2013. Academic Affairs, Record Group 4; Faculty committees, Series 5; Faculty Assembly, Subseries 1. Benedictine University Archives.
