Janet began her library career as a Peace Corps volunteer in Saint Lucia in the West Indies. She returned to the US and earned an MALS from Dominican University. For three decades, Janet worked in Saint Lucia developing libraries and coordinating the efforts of local librarians to train library workers in the region’s first Library Technical Assistant program. She earned a PhD in Information Studies from Florida State University.
She married and raised three children in Saint Lucia and returned to the US to allow the children to complete their educations here. In Chicago, Janet had the opportunity to serve as the Library Director at the Erikson Institute. During her career, she has fostered the growth of several libraries from solo institutions to complex academic libraries. Her experience overseas allows her to prosper in multicultural environments. She enjoys mentoring and strategic planning.
Her goal is to ensure that the Benedictine University Library at Mesa will contribute to the success of the Mesa campus by working to scaffold the development of independent, self-directed, life-long learners and contributing to the increased use of the information services which the library makes available to faculty, staff and students.
