How do I...request books in I-SHARE?

Your best resource for obtaining books that are not at the Benedictine Library is to search the I-SHARE catalog of the 65 I-SHARE member libraries. The library can usually obtain books from the libraries participating in I-SHARE quicker than from other libraries.

I-SHARE has a built-in request form to order books. To place a request for a book:

1. Search the catalog and display the full record for the item you would like to request. Your screen should look something like this:

IO detailed record

2. Click on the "Request" button on the bar at the top of the screen:

IO navigation bar

3. On the screen that displays, select "Benedictine University" from the drop-down list of libraries, enter your Library ID number and your last name, and click "Login."

4. At the next screen, click OK:

5. On the following screen, fill in your Library ID Number again in the "Library Borrower ID" field and click Submit Request:

6. You should see a message indicating your request is in process:

If you receive an error message instead of the confirmation message above, please contact the Reference Desk at libref@ben.edu or (630) 829-6057 for assistance.
