White Fire, A Book of Poetry about Figure Skaters
A Poet’s Perspective on Writing
The Benedictine University Library Faculty Authors Series features published faculty members and their works. Mardelle Fortier, former adjunct faculty member at Benedictine University, is the featured faculty author at the next Faculty Authors event on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from 3 – 4 pm
in the Library IdeaLounge
Mardelle Fortier has close to 100 poems in print, plus the book, White Fire, a compilation of poetry about figure skaters, to be featured at this event just in time for the Winter Olympics. Fortier has about 25 short stories in print, as well as 10 book reviews. An award winning author, she has won numerous poetry prizes, especially through Poets and Patrons of Chicago and has taught at several Chicagoland colleges in addition to Benedictine.
The event will take place in the Library 2nd floor “IdeaLounge” area, near the windows. Coffee, tea, and light refreshments will be served.
Students, faculty, and staff are welcome. The Library will provide a student sign-in sheet to document student attendance, if instructors wish to offer extra credit and encourage their students to attend.
The Library staff invites you to join us on January 29 to learn more about the work of another distinguished Benedictine University faculty author!
