Displays of interest include the annual Faculty Author Display and new books added to the collection from four grants in Health Sciences, Health Issues in Latin America, Emotional and Behavioral Disorders, and Growth, Development and Training of Academic Administrators. All new book displays are on the second floor, but don't miss our Chicago themed book displays throughout the library!
3/18/08: Easter Weekend Announcements
Please note that the library will be closed for the Easter holiday. We will be closed as of Friday, March 21 and will not reopen until 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 24.
Over the holiday weekend we will also be upgrading the I-Share catalog. During this time a read-only version of the catalog will be available for your use, but the My Account section will be unavailable.
3/4/08: New database: CQ Global Researcher
We'd like to introduce the latest addition to our electronic collection: CQ Global Researcher. This database will compliment our existing subscription to CQ Reasearcher and offer context from a global perspective. "Hot" global topics covered in the CQ Global Researcher include:

1/8/08: Library Catalog Unavailable from 5 p.m. - 8 a.m.
The library will be upgrading its software begining at 5:00 p.m. today. During that time access to the electronic catalog will not be available.
The upgrade will be comeplete and access re-established as of 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 9.
12/13/07: Library Closed Monday, December 17 from 12 - 3 p.m.
The library will be closed from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17 for a library event.
12/2/07: Extended Hours for Exams/Finals
The library will be open extended hours for exams/finals from Sun., December 2 through
Thurs., December 13, 2007.
Extended hours are:
Mon.-Thurs. - 7:45 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
Fri. - 7:45 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Sat. - 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Sun. - 12:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m.
11/19/07: Library Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday
The Benedictine University Library will be closed Thursday, November 22 through Saturday, November 24 in observance
of the Thanksgiving holiday. We will reopen with normal hours on Sunday, November 25.
11/14/07: The Coal Ben is NOW OPEN! Check it out...
Today at 9:00 AM Benedictine University celebrated the opening of its newest campus building, the Coal Ben.
The Coal Ben offers a fun, social setting for students to meet and eat, offering a variety of dishes and organic
specialty coffees. The Coal Ben has five (5!) flat screen televisions, large seating areas (including outdoor seating), wireless hotspots, and beer and wine will be served Thursday - Saturday from 5 PM until 11 PM.
Hours of operation are:
Monday - Friday | 7:30 AM - 12 midnight
Saturday & Sunday | 11:30 AM - 12 midnight
11/6/07: Chaucer Program Announcement
Jean-Marie Kauth, Director of the Writing Program and Assistant Professor in the Department of Language and Literature,
will present a talk on Geoffrey Chaucer from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16 on the 4th floor of the Library. Dr.
Kauth will present background information on Chaucer and his times, share pictures of manuscripts, and lead an audience
participation reading of The Wife of Bath’s tale in Middle English.
Print out The Wife of Bath’s tale before you come (available via this link)
to follow along with the reading. The 1687 printing of Chaucer’s Complete Works, on loan from the Linardakis Collection, will
also be available for viewing.
