Former Notre Dame athlete shares story of faith, courage
Haley Scott DeMaria, author of "What Though the Odds: Haley Scott's Journey of Faith and Triumph," will discuss her journey from a healthy college athlete to a paralysis patient at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, in the Goodwin Hall Auditorium. A book signing precedes the presentation from 6:00-6:45 p.m. DeMaria shares her story of survival and recovery in order to help others find hope, strength and faith during times of life's great challenges. The Office of Admissions has scheduled several events throughout the spring and summer to showcase Benedictine University to prospective students. Prospective students can attend Saturday Preview Days from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on June 11 and July 16, and a Future Transfer Day on Wednesdays, July 6 and August 3. During the events, attendees can meet with an admissions counselor to discuss Benedictine University's renowned academic programs, the admissions process and requirements, applying, scholarships and financial aid, and take a guided tour of campus. Volunteers needed for Catholic Charities' back to school fair
Faculty and staff are invited to volunteer for Catholic Charities' DuPage County Back to School Fair on Wednesday, August 3, at the Odeum Expo Center in Villa Park. Catholic Charities' Back to School Fairs help prepare children from low-income households for a new school year by providing a variety of services, including free school supplies, immunizations, physicals, dental exams and more. USATF Illinois seeks volunteers for Masters Throws Championships
Volunteers are needed to support 2016 USA Track & Field Masters Throws Championships, a unique field event competition which showcases an athlete's power and strength. More than 120 athletes and officials plus spectators from across the country will attend the competition on the weekend of August 5-7 at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sports Complex. Duties include retrieving implements during warm-ups and competition, assisting during weights and measures, setting up and managing the competition venue under direction of meet officials, and assisting in registration, posting results and assisting with medals and awards. The Benedictine women's soccer team will host a prospect camp in August.
The goal of the 2016 Benedictine Eagle Basketball Camp is to create an entertaining environment for learning the game of basketball. The camp focuses on excellent instruction in the fundamentals of offensive and defensive basketball. The camp is run by D3hoops.com Coach of the Year Keith Bunkenburg and members of the 2015-16 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championships national runner-up. The camp is for boys grades 3-8 and runs from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, through Friday, June 10. The cost of camp is $225 and includes lunch, a camp T-shirt and a camp basketball.
