Tim Marin (Chemistry) recently published an article, "Vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy of the lowest-lying electronic state in subcritical and supercritical water," in the May 17 issue of Nature Communications, an online-only journal that publishes high-quality research in biology, physics, chemistry, Earth sciences and all related areas. Retire your American flag with dignity

The Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau encourages citizens who have old flags, which have become worn beyond repair, to bring them to the Lisle Village Hall. Local Boy Scouts will perform a proper flag retirement ceremony at the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony held on Monday, May 29, in downtown Lisle. A collection box will be located in the Lisle Village Hall Lobby at 925 Burlington Avenue, from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Donations will be accepted through Friday, May 26. The 127th Commencement Convocation for master's and doctoral degree recipients will begin at 9:45 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at the Rice Center. There will be a reception immediately after in the Campus Quad. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Rice Center. For more information, go to ben.edu/commencement


Transfer Admitted Student Day prepares students for the fall semester  

Transfer students already admitted to Benedictine University are invited to Transfer Admitted Student Day at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24, in the Goodwin Hall of Business. Students will have the opportunity to meet with Advising Center staff and review transfer credit evaluations, financial aid, scholarships and out-of-pocket costs. Students will also be able to pay their tuition deposit, sign up for fall placement testing and learn more about their fall class schedule. Annual Campus Security and Fire Report available online

Faculty, staff and students can access the Annual Campus Security and Fire Report for calendar year 2015, which is published in 2016, as required by the U.S. Department of Education, for the Lisle main campus, Naperville Operational Center, Bellwood Learning Center, and Springfield, Ill., and Mesa, Ariz., branch campuses at ben.edu/police

The first Alumni and Friends Golf Outing in support of athletics took place on May 15 at Arrowhead Golf Club.
