Prepare yourself for success – in your career, and in life.
Selecting a four-year college to which to transfer can be a difficult decision, especially with so many options from which to choose. You may visit many colleges and universities and speak with many admissions counselors. But if you are looking for an exceptional educational experience that will help you attain the success you want, then we urge you to considering transferring to Benedictine University at Mesa.
At Benedictine, our values-based, liberal arts education will prepare you for work and for life, no matter what you choose to do.
Studies show that a private, liberal arts education contributes significantly to the career success of leaders in business, government and the nonprofit sector. Today’s leaders need to be able to think and plan strategically, interpret changing global conditions, organize resources effectively and collaboratively guide teams of diverse people.
Students at private liberal arts colleges are challenged and supported to cultivate these skills throughout their coursework and co-curricular activities, then apply them during undergraduate research projects, volunteer experiences and internships. The values-based, liberal arts educational experiences offered at Benedictine foster the broadly applicable skills needed in the workplace of tomorrow.
So if you want to be positioned to become one of our nation’s next leaders, considering transferring to Benedictine University at Mesa, where we pay attention to what matters most – YOUR SUCCESS!
Hospitality – Benedictine University at Mesa promotes diversity and believes that learning from others is just as important as learning in the classroom. We try to make sure our students are able to meet and interact with students from all over the country and all over the world by providing them with opportunities to study at our main campus in Lisle and abroad. These experiences allow students to discover another perspective and learn from other students' life experiences, creating an enhanced educational experience.
Search for God by oneself and with others – Benedictine has built its educational life and efforts on the values espoused by St. Benedict, the first of which is the search for God. God is the foundation, the focus and the spiritual core of all we do at Benedictine University. The search for God is ultimately the search for truth, and Benedictine University at Mesa is a community of many faiths, many ethnicities and many races drawn together by the search for truth.
An appreciation for living and working in community –Student organizations such as Rotoract provide an opportunity for young men and women to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service. We also encourage our students to get involved in community outreach and service projects that benefit organizations such as the Mesa United Way and Catholic Charities Community Services of Phoenix.
Development of each person – We believe in promoting self-growth and improvement. That’s why we established the John O. Whiteman Student Success Center, which provides access to internships, networking and other career preparation activities and hosts leadership and character development workshops which help each student transform their potential into the realization of goals and accomplishments.
Emphasis on a life lived in balance – Our students have access to extracurricular and intercollegiate athletic activities that develop the leadership and cooperative qualities that employers covet. Juggling school, work, athletics and student organizations can be difficult, but at Benedictine we focus on the need for students to enjoy all aspects of life in such way that one does not overwhelm the other.
Dedication to responsible stewardship of the earth – Pollution. Global warming. Massive oil spills. Entire species of animals and plants eradicated. Rain forests devastated. When St. Benedict charged his followers to be stewards of the earth some 1500 years ago, even he could not have foreseen the crisis facing our world. We promote community service and "living green." We are continually seeking to develop new and better ways to help the environment.
Small class – Our average class size is 25 students. The student-to-faculty ratio is 16:1. Our small class sizes and student-to-faculty ratio ensure that students receive individual attention and personal academic guidance.
Interaction with peers and professor– The Benedictine community plays a key role in assisting students in the achievement of their goals. Students gain a better understanding of academic material specifically and the University experience in general through personal interaction with professors.
Professor accessibility – Students are encouraged to remain after class with additional questions, take advantage of office hours, and even utilize cell phone numbers that are provided if students require assistance while at home.
Tutors available outside classroom hours – Students who have excelled in a particular class are handpicked by the professor to offer outside assistance. These tutors offer their experiences and expertise to help students with study sessions and test preparation outside the classroom.
Student Services – Student Services is a study resource for tutoring in math, writing, science and economics. Academic resources and staff are made available to students to ensure that their weakest subjects do not prohibit them from succeeding at Benedictine.
Internships – Real on-the-job experiences allow students to gain confidence and assurance of their major or profession that they are considering. Internships are also a useful tool for making important career connections and enhancing what students learn in the classroom. Our staff is continually seeking new internship opportunities for students to enhance their job marketability.
Experienced professors who have worked in the field in which they teach – Our professors bring real world experience to the classroom. They are able to provide advice and information about the current and future trends of the industry in which students are interested. Professors also assist students to make the necessary professional connections for internships.
Unique course work– Our faculty constantly push the envelope by creating academic programs and coursework that will allow our students to be competitive and prepared for career opportunities now and in the future. We are continuing to add new majors to increase our students’ marketability in an increasingly competitive job market.
Flexible learning formats – Our students enjoy a curriculum that focuses on decision-making and problem-solving, not memorization and repetition. Students engage, experiment, discover and apply. They evaluate problems and discover solutions in an innovative, technology-driven atmosphere. They benefit from a combination of learning formats that are best suited to convey the subject matter.
Scholarships make values-based education affordable -- Every year, hundreds of students transfer to Benedictine because of the financial assistance, competitive scholarships and personal advising we provide. Many scholarships are tailored specifically to transfer students. Financial aid is also available in the form of grants and loans.
