Applicants who have received a prior graduate degree are not required
to take an admissions test.
Many factors are weighed in assessing an applicant; there is no
set admission formula and no predetermined cut-off point for test
scores. Generally, applicants may demonstrate potential by presenting
some of the following:
- Evidence of prior academic
success such as transcripts of undergraduate and graduate course
work and letters of reference from faculty;
- Statement of career goals
and program interest;
- Evidence of aptitude
for graduate study as demonstrated by scores on standardized
tests;
- Personal interview with
the program director;
- Evidence of career success
in an area related to the program of interest; this may include
resumes, job descriptions, and letters of reference from business
associates; and
- Performance as a graduate
student-at-large (GSL) at Benedictine University.
Student-at-large Study
Graduate students at-large (GSAL) are those who enroll for graduate
coursework before being accepted or applying for admission to
a graduate degree program. Students should hold an accredited
baccalaureate degree and should contact Brian Frederick, Program
Manager, prior to registering.
To become a degree candidate the graduate student-at-large must
make a formal application and meet all admission requirements.
Generally, only students who have achieved at least a "B"
average as graduate students-at-large will be accepted degree
candidates. Students may enroll in selected courses as graduate
students-at-large and departmental advising is available to them.
Students may count a maximum of 16 quarter-hour credits earned
as graduate students-at-large toward a degree program unless otherwise
stipulated by the program director.
