The Jurica-Suchy Nature Museum is proud to participate in the annual Leave No Child Inside month this June!
Marvelous Mud! The theme for the 2015 LNCI Month:
Every summer Chicago Wilderness members collectively engage children and families in fun, outdoor activities to better connect people and nature. This year the members of the Leave No Child Inside initiative have developed a wonderful theme: Marvelous Mud!
Mud, a combination of water and soil, is the perfect nature play medium, and can lead to many teachable moments while playing and having fun. Get down to basics with hands-on activities that squish, mold, splat, and crumble. Touch upon the topics of water conservation, soil health, and sustainability all while highlighting the wonders of mud. Ideas for mud-related play activities and learning tools can be found on the LNCI Pinterest page at https://www.pinterest.com/kidsoutside/marvelous-mud/.
Many of the local events will tie into International Mud Day: http://www.worldforumfoundation.org/working-groups/nature/international-mud-day/
Each summer for the last five years, Chicago Wilderness alliance members have collectively engaged more than 15,000 adults and children in outdoor fun and nature exploration! Find out where there are Leave No Child Inside events near your community through the website and social media outlets.
