The Benedictine University softball team lost its opening round game of the Northern Athletics Conference post-season tournament, falling to Edgewood College by a 4-2 score at Jericho Park in Aurora. The Eagles are now 21-19-1 overall. Senior Melissa Kenendy went the distance in the circle, giving up 10 hits and three earned runs. Kennedy struck out three and walked one as she fell to 14-9 overall. Senior catcher Katie Bellich led the Benedictine batting by going 2-for-3. Kristin Bonk and Lisa Hodges had the other two hits for the BU team. Hodges had an RBI triple in the seventh inning as the only extra-base hit for the Eagles. Benedictine will face Marian College in Friday's elimination game at 1:00 p.m. for the right to continue in the double-elimination event.
