Benedictine University throws specialist Matt Wilkin (Bolingbrook H.S.) unleashed an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying mark of 171'7" to win the hammer throw at the North Central College Gregory Invitational. Wilkins heave also bettered his own school record in the event - previously 165'7" set earlier this season at the Elmhurst Invitational - by six feet. Wilkin's toss was also over three feet better than the second place competitor in the field of 16 hammer throwers at the Gregory Invitational. Wilkin will have to play the waiting game to see if his mark is good enough to earn an invitation to the NCAA Division III championships. He is currently ranked 26th on the hammer throw performance list.
