Benedictine University freshman pitcher Brittney Carnell (Elburn, Ill./Kaneland H.S.) has earned her second-consecutive "Student-Athlete of the Week" award from the Northern Athletics Conference. Carnell not only tossed the first no-hitter of her career on Friday versus Maranatha Baptist, but also got the complete-game victory over Edgewood on Saturday to help Benedictine remain unbeaten (10-0) in conference play. On the week, she had 10 strikeouts to just four walks. Opponents hit just .170 against her in 47 at-bats. On the year, Carnell has a record of 8-2 with a 1.90 earned run average in 51 2/3 innings of work. Carnell has struck out 31 batters and walked just 12 on the year.
