Benedictine University sophomore Kayla Leyden (Elgin, Ill./St. Edward Catholic H.S.) has been named as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) "Student-Athlete of the Week" for the period of October 27-November 2. Leyden led Benedictine to the championship of its own Eagle Classic tournament and was named to the all-tournament team. She had 20 kills in a NAC match at Wisconsin Lutheran College as BU clinched the No. 4 seed for the NAC tournament, and followed that with a 25-kill effort in the Eagles' five-set win versus CCIW power North Central College in the Classic. Leyden had double-doubles in kills and digs in four of five matches last week. On the year, Leyden is averaging 3.97 kills and 3.96 digs per set as one of the best all-around players in the NAC and region.
