Volleyball sweeps past Alverno

The Benedictine volleyball team squared its Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) record thanks to a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-12) win at Alverno College. The Eagles are now 6-7 overall and 1-1 in the NAC. Sophomore Kayla Leyden led the BU offense with 12 kills and a .346 attack percentage. She also had seven digs. Junior Sarah Porod added seven kills and two blocks. Senior teammate Amanda Distasio had eight digs, while Sara Olszta had seven digs. Setters Jessica Judge and Taylor Hoppe each had 13 assists. Benedictine served up 10 aces in the match, led by three from Judge. Distasio and Laura Grueneich each knocked down two aces, apiece. The Eagles will be idle until Wednesday (Sept. 24/7:00 p.m.) when they play host to Milwaukee School of Engineering. For more Athletics News, visit the Athletics Web site.
