Men’s basketball standout Jared Bailey (Argo, Ill./Argo Community H.S.) has been honored as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) “Student-Athlete of the Week” for the second time this season. This most recent award covers the period of February 9-15, 2009. Bailey led the Eagles’ team in scoring in both games last week, as Benedictine University claimed the Northern Athletics Conference South Division title with a 74-71 win over rival Aurora University. BU then secured the No. 1-seed for this week's NAC postseason tournament with a 78-64 victory over NAC North champ Edgewood College in last Saturday's "NAC Challenge Game". The shooting guard hit nearly 54 percent (14-26) from the field, averaging 25.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game as Benedictine earned its first conference championship since the 2000-01 season.
