Benedictine University freshman Laura Christensen (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg H.S.) has been named Second Team All-Great Lakes Region for NCAA Division III softball by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Christensen helped the Eagles' team to its first 30-win season (31-12) since 2001. Benedictine finished third in the NAC regular season standings. Christensen paced the Benedictine team in many categories, including batting average (.418), runs (30), at-bats (134), hits (56), stolen bases (16 of 19), sacrifice hits (5) and on-base average (.463). She also had three doubles and two triples, to go along with 11 walks. Christensen had 17 multi-hit games, including six three-hit efforts. She hit safely in 33 of the teams 42 games played.
