Benedictine University women’s track and field runner Danielle Smith (Oak Forest, Ill./Marian Catholic H.S.) has been honored as the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) “Student-Athlete of the Week”. The award covers the period of February 9-15, 2009. Smith, a 5’8” freshman, ran the lead leg (1200 meters) for BU's school record Distance Medley Relay team (erasing an 11-year old previous school record in the event) at the University of Chicago Bradley Invitational. The DMR quartet was clocked at 13:29.6. Smith was also ninth in the 800 meters with a personal best 2:36.4.
