Benedictine graduate receives legislative scholarship to attend UIC dental school

Lisle, Illinois ~ Nida Akhter, the daughter of Jawed Akhter and Bilqees Saeeda of Villa Park and a May 2010 graduate of Benedictine University, was awarded an Illinois General Assembly Legislative Scholarship by Ill. State Rep. Sandy Pihos (R-42nd).
Akhter earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Benedictine and graduated as a Scholar with Distrinction. She attended College Prep School of America in Lombard before enrolling at Benedictine, where she earned a 3.98 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The Illinois General Assembly Scholarship program provides a full year of tuition for both undergraduate and graduate students who plan to attend an Illinois state university. Students must demonstrate strong academic achievement and leadership skills, demonstrate relative financial need among all applicants and provide stellar recommendations.
Akhter currently attends the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry.
