Former Kennesaw State Assistant SID, Benedictine volleyball player joins staff

“We are delighted to have somebody of Jessica’s background both as an athlete and a sports media professional join the Benedictine athletic family,” McHorney said. “She brings a great deal of energy and experience to the department. We believe she will help us achieve our goal of becoming one of the top NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic programs in the country.”
Steadman was a member of the women’s volleyball team while an undergraduate student at Benedictine. She was team captain for two years and was named the team’s top defensive player twice. An All-Northern Iowa-Illinois Conference selection, she was a member of three Benedictine teams that qualified for the NCAA Division III women’s volleyball tournament.
Following her graduation from Benedictine, Steadman attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and earned a Master of Science in Sports Administration in 2007. Upon completing her master’s, she accepted an internship in the athletic department at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Ga.
Steadman was asked to stay on at Valdosta following the completion of her internship, and served as an Assistant Sports Information Director for two years before accepting a similar position at Kennesaw State.
At Benedictine, Steadman will be responsible for developing and coordinating an integrated marketing communications program to help achieve the goals of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program, She will also be responsible for disseminating individual and team statistical data for all sports programs.
Steadman, a native of Burbank, Ill. who attended Queen of Peace H.S. and currently resides in Downers Grove, will also work closely with the University’s Department of Marketing and Communications, which produces much of the marketing material for the Athletics department.
