Leading expert in enterprise change speaks at milestone CVDL roundtable

March 26, 2013

Lisle, Illinois Bill Pasmore, a globally respected thinker in organizational design and change, and Tom Walter, chief culture officer and CEO of one of Chicago's leading catering companies, will address the next Senior Executive Roundtable hosted by Benedictine University's Center for Values-Driven Leadership (CVDL).

The roundtable, which will focus on "Driving Enterprise Change: Leadership Strategies for Agile Organizations," will be held from 2:00-5:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. Members of the business community are invited to attend.

This event is a milestone in the five-year history of Benedictine's CVDL. It marks the conclusion of course work for the center's first cohort of doctoral students in Values-Driven Leadership, and the first day of coursework for the CVDL's second cohort of executive students. The students, who are senior leaders from around the globe, will attend the roundtable.

Senior leaders travel to the CVDL to increase their knowledge for creating sustainable organizations that transform society through values-driven leadership. Based at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., just outside of Chicago, the CVDL is the first university program in the world to offer a doctorate in values-driven leadership.

The Doctor of Philosophy/Doctor of Business Administration (Ph.D./D.B.A.) in Values-Driven Leadership are specifically designed for senior leaders committed to using the creativity and discipline of business to create short-term and long-term shareholder value, enrich people's lives, and produce products and services that benefit society and contribute to the sustainability of the planet.

Pasmore is the organizational practice leader for the Center for Creative Leadership and a visiting professor at Teachers College, Columbia University. He has worked for decades inside some of the world's most successful companies, including Kimberly Clark, Unilever and Hewlett Packard, to help their top executives drive change. He is the author of "Creating Strategic Change: Designing the Flexible, High-Performing Organization" and "Relationships that Enable Enterprise Change: Leveraging the Client-Consultant Connection."

"We're delighted to celebrate this milestone with Pasmore as our keynote speaker," says Amber Johnson, CVDL corporate relations advisor. "He brings practical knowledge of how to drive change, shaped by his years of academic research and practitioner consulting."

In addition to serving as the top executive of Tasty Catering, Walter is a self-identified "serial entrepreneur" who has started 29 companies. As co-author of "It's My Company Too!: How Entangled Companies Move Beyond Employee Engagement for Remarkable Results," Walter is nationally recognized as an expert in shaping workplace cultures through investing in employees.

"Our guests will connect with Walter's hands-on experience in the world of business," Johnson said. "He will offer insights into how change processes actually work in the day-to-day operations of a company."

The roundtable is made possible through the sponsorship of two local companies: Spraying Systems Co. of Wheaton and First Alert® of Aurora.

Spraying Systems Co. is the global leader in spray technology. The 75-year old, privately-held company has the broadest product range in the industry with manufacturing facilities and sales offices in 85 countries. First Alert®, manufacturers of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and safes and cash boxes, has been one of the most trusted brands in home-safety products for more than 50 years. First Alert® products are manufactured by BRK Brands, a subsidiary of Jarden Corporation.

"We are grateful for the support of First Alert and Spraying Systems Co., and know that their support represents their commitment to strategic leadership that is positive and people-focused," Johnson said.
