MacPhee leads Eagles' track in NIIC/LMC Invitational

Benedictine University senior thrower Mike MacPhee won three events - and placed fifth in another - in highlighting the Eagles' efforts at the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference/Lake Michigan Conference Invitational. The event also served as the NIIC's track and field championship meet.
MacPhee was tabbed as the NIIC's "Field Event Performer of the Year" for his efforts. Part of McPhee's ledger on Friday was a school-record hammer toss effort. MacPhee logged a distance of 160'4" in the hammer.
In the discus, MacPhee won with a mark of 131'9". He also took top honors in the javelin with an effort of 155'10". MacPhee was also fifth in the shotput at 41' 7 3/4".
Teammate Matt Wilkin earned runner-up finishes in the hammer and discus. Pete Sgarbossa completed an Eagles' sweep in the hammer by placing third.
Stacey Sara was second in the 200 meters in a time of 27.54 and second in the 100 meter hurdles (17.10), as well.
Ryan Chartrand was second in the men's 110 meter hurdles, clocking in at 17.66.
As a team, the Eagles' men were third of 10 teams. The women were fourth of 10 teams.
