Event Description: The symposium brings together Benedictine faculty and other featured academics to discuss the social, political and health issues of violence’s impact within and on the family. As a Catholic university, Benedictine’s faith tradition calls for us to care for those in need. Scholars from the sciences, theology, political science and anthropology will give us an interdisciplinary approach to discuss this growing concern in our society.

Robert “Bob” Baer is one of the most accomplished agents in CIA history and in 1998 was awarded the Career Intelligence Medal for his efforts. He is the author of four The New York Times bestsellers, including “See No Evil,” the basis for the acclaimed film “Syriana” which earned George Clooney an Academy Award for his portrayal of Baer. Considered one of the world’s foremost authorities on the Middle East, Baer frequently appears on all major news outlets. A terrorism analyst for CNN and Time magazine, he has contributed to Vanity Fair, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post.
