Biography:

Julie M. Moreschi earned her B.S. in Home Economics from Bradley University in 1983 and her M.S. in Clinical Nutrition from Rush University in 1985. Additional graduate level coursework was completed in the area of Organizational Development at Benedictine University. She is currently in pursuit of her Ph.D. in Public Health at the University of Illinois, Chicago.

Previously, Ms. Moreschi worked as a clinical dietitian, cafeteria manager, diet office manager, assistant foodservice director, internal management consultant, and consultant at a variety of health care organizations in Illinois and Minnesota. She joined Benedictine University as an adjunct faculty member of the Nutrition Department in 1994, and was hired as the Dietetic Internship Director in 1997.

Ms. Moreschi's professional interests lie primarily in the areas of community nutrition, maternal and child wellness, and preventative nutrition interventions. Ms. Moreschi has been co-author of reseach presented at several of the peer-reviewed poster sessions held at the annual American Dietetic Association Food, Nutrition Conference and Exhibition (FNCE). She has been awarded a Kucera grant for coordination and implementation of a professional development conference. In 2006, Ms. Moreschi was the recipient of a $75,000 grant from "WeGo Together for Kids'Safe Schools/Healthy Students" funded by the Department of Health and Human Services; it is a three-year, $25,000 per year grant to cover salary and research supplies to conduct community-based interventions in the West Chicago school district.

Ms. Moreschi serves as the Team Co-Chair of Action for Health Kids, in which the public is made more aware of the benefits of a healthy school environment. As part of the multidisciplinary grant funded team in the We Go Together for Kids project in the West Chicago school district #33, she leads community based research studies in nutrition. Demonstrating continued involvement management development, team building, and self-directed work teams, she facilitated the creation of a clinical nutrition self-directed work team at a Chicagoland hospital, and served as a past Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee and CPI Chair of the Illinois Dietetic Association. For more information, see her vita.

When she is not working, Ms. Moreschi enjoys spending time with her elementary aged daughter, cooking, knitting, and attending a variety of cultural events.
