Nutrition Club:
Mission, Activities, and Benefits


Mission

The mission of the Nutrition Club is to apply our knowledge and communication skills in order to educate the entire Benedictine University community (including ourselves) about the relationship of nutrition to health and well being. This will be accomplished by the combined efforts of all the club members, through philanthropic events, seminars, and fun activities.

Nutrition Club Activities

The Nutrition Club has sponsored, hosted, or assisted in planning many activites, some of which include:

  Bake Sales
Guest Speakers
Community Nutrition and Health Fair
Tours of Supermarkets and Food Manufacturing Companies
Bean Bag Tournament
Thanksgiving Day Food Drive
Volunteering at PADS Shelter and Soup Kitchen
Cookbook Fundraiser
Assisting at Chicago Marathon
Walk-A-Thon
Ethnic Food Restaurant Outing
Annual Nutrition Department Banquet

Educational Activities

The Nutrition Club helped coordinate participation in educational activities for professional development. Some of these activities included:

  Guest Speakers and classes (e.g., cooking class, wellness, career)
Attend ADA Annual Food and Nutrition Conference and Exposition (fall)
Attend Illinois Dietetic Association Spring Assembly (March)
Attend National Restaurant Association Exposition (May)
Eligible for membership in The American Dietetic Association (ADA)
ADA student members can join the West Suburban Dietetic Association

Membership Benefits
